Following a hard-earned victory in the first round against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Dallas Mavericks faced an even tougher opponent in the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round. Despite entering Tuesday night's game with an 0-4 record in Game 1s under head coach Jason Kidd, Dallas couldn't break the pattern in OKC. They struggled offensively in the first half, leading to a 117-95 loss.

Even with three days of rest before the series opener, Luka Doncic appeared hampered by his knee sprain. Despite his efforts, he finished with 19 points, six rebounds, and nine assists, shooting 6-19 from the field and 1-8 from beyond the arc. Doncic continues to grapple with efficiency issues in the playoffs but remains committed to his team's cause.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, an MVP finalist like Doncic, showcased his prowess with 29 points, 19 of which came in the first half. He also contributed nine rebounds and nine assists, shooting 8-19 overall and 2-4 from three-point range.Kyrie Irving struggled in the first half, managing only six points and four turnovers. Despite a better showing in the second half, he finished with 20 points, three assists, and two steals, shooting 7-14 from the field and 3-4 from deep.
