Brian Fox, a colleague of Albini's at Electrical Audio, confirmed his passing on Tuesday night due to a heart attack.

"We are not prepared to provide further statements at this time. Perhaps in the coming days, we can discuss his significant impact, which was profound," Fox stated in an email.

Albini's death occurred just over a week before the scheduled release of a new album, "To All Trains," by his long-time band Shellac, slated for May 17. This album marks Shellac's first release since 2014.
